To combat transnational organized crime related to gaming in the area, China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations have signed a new pact. That's done in collaboration with the Office of Drugs and Crime of the United Nations.
The agreement states that the promise of rich employment possibilities has attracted thousands of people from the Asia area and other parts of the world who are being trafficked to work in casinos and other fraud complexes.
They also promise to set up procedures for checking for connections to organized crime when screening investors in casinos, including those who use online platforms and junket operations.
