Chinese company slapped with $4 million fine for bribing Los Angeles councilman

Shenzhen New World, a Chinese real estate developer, was penalized $4 million. That amount covers the cost of paying Los Angeles councilman Jose Huizar to grant the company's request to construct a tower in downtown LA. Wei Huang, the company's rich owner, frequently took expensive vacations to Las Vegas and showered Huizar with casino chips. Due to allegations of fraud and bribery, Huang is wanted by the US and is regarded as a fugitive. Huizar was escorted from the casino after he refused to sign a document stating that he had an independent source of wealth and was betting with his own money. The FBI was then contacted by casino workers.
