Chip racing in poker is a process that occurs in poker tournaments when the blinds increase and there are small-denomination chips that are no longer needed in play. The process involves removing these small-denomination chips from play and converting them into larger denominations, which are then distributed among the players. This helps to simplify the chip stacks and make it easier to handle larger amounts of chips as the blinds increase. The process is called a "chip race" or a "race off," and it is dealt with in a clockwise direction, with the dealer announcing which denominations of chips will be removed from play. The chips that are removed are then exchanged for higher denomination chips
