The country's gaming regulator has unveiled plans to address the issue of unlicensed slot machine operations, which could mean a change in the gaming landscape in Colombia. The regulator, which has had three presidents since January, has had a turbulent year culminating in the initiative.
In an effort to prevent revenue losses, the regulator calculates that up to 50,000 unlicensed slot machines might be operating nationwide and costing Colombia about US$238.14 million. One-third of the market for legal gaming is represented by this amount.
