Commodity Futures Trading Commission distances itself from role of gambling regulator

Election betting on sites including event contracts such as those said to be sold on Kalshi, has forced the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, an independent federal agency of the U.S. government that oversees derivatives markets, to acts as gambling agents according to the commission's lawyers

Users can buy and sell stocks on a wide range of topics, including politics, economics, culture and climate. The commission criticized online betting exchanges , saying Kalshi was basically betting on elections and other political issues, according to agency officials.
