Community lottery raises thousands for Watford charities

After just one year of operation, the Watford Community Lottery has already raised over £31,000 for worthy causes.

Officers from the borough council thanked members of the community organizations that attended a Watford Town Hall event that was hosted by the town mayor.

Since the lottery's inception in June of last year, more than 50 charitable organizations and neighborhood groups have benefited from it.

Watford Swimming Club and Oxhey Village Environment Group are a couple of the recipients.

While the later has funded environmental initiatives like community gardens and conservation efforts, the former has improved its training programs, supporting more swimmers and updating equipment.
