Connecticut state senator jailed for gambling away COVID-19 relief funds

A former state lawmaker from Connecticut was given a sentence of 27 months in jail for stealing from the city of West Haven more than $1.2 million in federal Covid relief money. The 32-year-old disgraced politician oversaw the city's COVID-19 Grant Department and had unrestricted authority to write checks. At the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut, the dishonest official lost thousands of dollars. DiMassa would wager on anything, such as how long the national anthem would play during the Super Bowl or what color Gatorade would be spilled on the winning coach.

This is bad scenario. This is not expected from a state official and lawmaker for that extent. Because he had unrestricted access to the treasury that is why he thinks he can betrayed the trust empowered in him.
Well, since he had tried and convicted, that served him right. He would served as a lesson to others who had committed the same shameful act.
