Craig Williams, a close ally of Rishi Sunak's who wagered on the election date, has lost the support of the Conservative Party.
The party announced on Tuesday that Laura Saunders, like Williams, had been placed under investigation by the Gambling Commission and had therefore been withdrawn as the candidate in Bristol North West.
Williams, who is seeking reelection as the Montgomeryshire MP, expressed regret for his £100 wager on election day and called it a "huge error of judgement." He has declined to comment on whether or not he knew something before placing the wager.
