Japan's inaugural casino is now underway, following government approval for Osaka's integrated resort project. A collaboration between MGM Resorts International and Orix Corporation, the $8.6 billion development on Yumeshima island began construction after the signing of a formal agreement in September.
Initial work, costing $173 million, focuses on stabilizing the land. The completed resort, set to welcome guests in 2030, comprises three hotels with 2,500 rooms, a vast convention space, and a casino occupying only 3% of the total indoor area.
