Converting from 9 handed to 6 handed 2nl

I've seen just about every kind of poker game come and go over the years. Switching from 9-handed to 6-handed in a 2NL game is certainly not the most radical change, but it does warrant some adjustments to strategy and approach.

With 3 fewer players in the pot, limping and calling light bets goes down considerably in EV. The pot will be smaller, yet each player's potential liability is larger. Position becomes slightly more valuable. Bluffing frequency should decrease a tick, as there are more players who can call any bet.

Taking slightly bigger pots and focusing on long-term win rates becomes even more crucial. While the rake takes a smaller bite, fewer total hands are played. Marginal decisions swing more heavily since a single mistake costs a bigger chunk of the hourly.
