If legislation to allow three commercial casino resorts in North Carolina is passed, The Cordish Companies, located in Baltimore, may stand to benefit the most. In recent years, Cordish has given money to a number of state officials. At least eight Republican state legislators have received donations from Cordish between November 2022 and March 2023. With a Rockingham, North Carolina, family that owns a 193-acre farm, Cordish has already come to a handshake arrangement. The undeveloped land is something Cordish wants to buy, but first it needs to be rezoned for commercial purposes.
