Critics say Turkish government has reduced taxes on betting to benefit pro-media tycoon

The Turkish government's recent move to slash taxes on lotteries and betting, according to critics, is allegedly intended to bolster a pro-government media mogul who entered the betting industry.

With effect from January 1, 2024, Turkey has announced a 50% tax reduction on lotteries and betting.

Sports betting, horse racing, and certain lotteries are impacted by the ruling, which was released in the Official Gazette.
