Del Lago Casino revenue eliminates property taxes for Tyre community

Tyre's local property taxes will be paid by the gaming profits from the upstate New York del Lago Resort & Casino. 2013 saw the statewide ballot referendum in New York that authorized commercial gaming by amending the state constitution to permit casinos akin to those in Las Vegas. In addition to paying for additional municipal services and defraying costs directly associated with the operation of the casino, Tyre receives roughly 1.7% of Del Lago's gross gaming revenue through its host agreement. Additionally, Seneca County gets 1.7% of the monthly casino winnings.
Recently, the Tyre Town Board decided to pay property taxes with the benefit of its casino tax. A resolution authorizing the payment of $2.4 million to the Tyre Tax Collector was approved by the board.
