Denmark's self-exclusion system extends to land-based casinos

The nation's gambling regulatory body confirmed that brick-and-mortar casinos and betting establishments will now be covered by the self-exclusion system.

Denmark introduced a personalized player ID in an effort to safeguard customers from overindulgent gambling and make sure that minors cannot enter physical locations where gambling is legal. The news was made public by the Danish gambling watchdog, which recently confirmed the aforementioned change will take effect on October 1, 2023. The gambling watchdog also disclosed the expansion of its list of self-excluded individuals in addition to the enhanced protection provided by the player ID.

This is a good step by Denmark to help protect people from gambling harm. Self-exclusion programs can help those struggling with gambling addiction avoid temptation. Extending it to physical casinos in addition to online gambling gives people more options to get help.
