Department of Justice unable to intervene in ongoing Florida gambling saga

The Department of Justice has announced that it will not be able to get involved in the legal dispute over the regulation of sports gambling in Florida. As a consequence of a state compact that was negotiated between the governor and the Seminole Tribe of Florida, the state began offering sports betting through the Hard Rock Bet.

The Seminole Tribe of Florida sought to establish sports betting in the state on a timeline that was convenient for them, and the compact effectively avoided a number of legal challenges that had previously proven too difficult to overcome.
