The MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino Hotel, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown are where the staff is employed. Workers from the food and beverage, housekeeping, retail, slot, and table game departments are among them.
The labor union, the Detroit Casino Council, declared in a statement on Monday that casino management is unwilling to deliver a fair contract for workers and made a formal threat to go on strike.
Previously, the strike option was overwhelmingly approved by workers.
Since September, the council and the casinos have been working to negotiate a new contract for about 3,700 casino workers.
