I'm a poker player, not a junkie. I enjoy the game, the challenge, feeling my skills grow hand after hand. While some maybe think I have a problem, I know when to walk away.
See, I play for fun, not desperate need. I set a limit and stick to it, win or lose. A compulsive gambler, though, they can't stop. The game ain't fun no more, just feeding an addiction.
They play to escape life, drowning sorrows in the pot. They'll steal money from loved ones to buy more chips. No strategy or skill involved, just desperation. I may play a lot, but I play to win at life too. The felt ain't my life, just a place to practice my craft. Know the difference? I do. A poker player lives to play another hand.
