Most sports teams have one or more ‘bogey teams’ which refers to a team that always beats them, or that they consistently suffer bad luck against, and as a result many sports punters will actively avoid betting on their otherwise favoured team, or even potentially will place a bet on the bogey team in anticipation of their preferred team suffering from bad luck. In the EPL, I think Bourenmouth have been a bogey team to Chelsea in the past. So do you tend to bet on the bogey team in this kind of matchup?

Bogey teams, also known as "streak busters," are teams that have a history of performing well against a particular opponent, often defying expectations and causing upsets. Betting on bogey teams can be a profitable strategy, as bookmakers often underestimate their chances. However, it's essential to approach this strategy with caution and thorough research.

Before betting on a bogey team, consider the following factors:

1. Head-to-head records: Analyze the team's past performances against their opponent, including wins, draws, and losses.
2. Current form: Evaluate the team's recent performances, including their last 5-10 games.
3. Strength of schedule: Consider the quality of opponents the team has faced recently.
4. Injuries and suspensions: Check for any key player absences that could impact the team's performance.
5. Motivation: Assess the team's motivation and pressure to perform, such as relegation or promotion battles.
6. Odds value: Ensure the odds offered provide sufficient value, considering the team's chances of winning.

By carefully evaluating these factors, you can make informed decisions when betting on bogey teams and potentially capitalize on their ability to cause upsets.
