Not really, no. The lottery is designed so that the house will always win in the long run. The odds of winning a big jackpot are typically terrible. But that's what keeps people buying tickets, hoping they'll be the next big winner.
I've wasted alot on lottery tickets over the years, mostly buying scratch-offs on impulse. A few small wins along the way but never enough to cover what I spent. The lottery preys on people's desire to dream big and win it all. That's why they glorify the winners in TV ads and print, to give players false hope. Don't get me wrong, I'll keep checking the lotto results just in case, but I know in my heart it's a loser's game. The house math is always stacked against the player. Go ahead, take your chances - but don't say I didn't warn ya!
