DraftKings hacker pleads guilty to stealing $600,000

On Wednesday, a teen from Wisconsin entered a guilty plea to conspiring to commit computer intrusion. The plea concerned the theft of over $600,000 from approximately 1,600 DraftKings accounts.

Prosecutors claim that on November 18, 2022, the teenager and other individuals carried out a credential-stuffing attack on the DraftKings sportsbook. This is the point at which a cybercriminal uses login credentials that they have usually bought on the Dark Web or stolen during significant corporate data breaches.

According to court documents, the perpetrator and his allies were able to access the account, add a new payment method, deposit $5 to validate it, and then take out all of the available funds.
