Dutch Gambling Authority begins penalty enforcement against Curacao Casbit Group

The Dutch Gambling Authority has penalized Casbit Group N.V., which holds a license from Curaçao, for providing illicit gambling products via the lala.bet website.

Public and private shareholders were reminded by the regulator in an official statement that gambling offers made to Dutch consumers without the proper authorization are prohibited in the Netherlands and that the regulator will keep going after companies that break the law.

Specifically, Casbit was given an order last week to discontinue its offering immediately. The order also included a warning that if the company didn't comply, it would be fined up to €840,000. The fine would increase to €280,000 per week until the order was completed.
