Dutch Gambling Authority discusses duty of care against illegal gambling

The Dutch Gambling Authority has published a blog post outlining the complexities of legal gambling markets and the responsibility to players. This article was published not long ago, following the Authority's publication of the findings of its inquiry into the duty of care assumed by business owners and service providers in the sector.

The chairman of this agency responds and explains the various interpretations that have been made in response to its publication.

Although some service providers are putting in place measures to help reduce gambling-related harm, such as higher limits for players under 24, it is suggested that the bar should be raised generally.

A big thanks to Dutch Gambling Authority as it spelled out complexities of legal gambling markets and the responsibilities of the players in its maiden blog recently published.
This is to showcase the result of its findings in the inquiry of duty of care.
With this developments, I'm of the opinion that both the business owners and their counterpart service providers would know their respective obligations.

I agree that the duty of care towards players needs to be strengthened. Legal gambling should be enjoyable entertainment for adults, not something that causes harm. While some sites are making efforts, more can be done to promote responsible gambling.

In order to safeguard players from potential hazards connected with unregulated platforms, they are undertaking measures to tackle the problem of illicit gambling operators.

Licensed operators are required to comply with regulations, which encompass responsible gaming practices and initiatives aimed at curbing underage and problem gambling.
