Dutch gambling authority reissues warning on gambling advertising

The Dutch gambling authority has reaffirmed that all advertising campaigns for gambling in the country must adhere to its regulations regarding audience targeting.

The warning comes after the most recent intervention, in which a gambling operator interrupted a game show on television to make aimless advertisements.

The rules set by the market for sponsoring TV shows, which are still permitted until July 1, 2024, were broken by the infringement-causing advertisement.

The Dutch government amended the Remote Gambling Act, which regulates online gambling in the country, with new advertising provisions in 2023 as a result of proceedings.
