Dutch regulation review laments responsible gambling failures

According to a Dutch government review of existing regulations, efforts to promote responsible gambling and help shield players from harm are insufficient and ineffective.
The review, which was announced in September, concentrated on the first three years of the Remote Gambling Act's implementation. October 2021 saw the opening of the legal Dutch online gambling market, which is governed by the Act.

A recent Dutch government review has concluded that the current measures to promote responsible gambling under the Remote Gambling Act (RGA) are insufficient. The review, focusing on the three years since the Act’s implementation, raised concerns about the effectiveness of existing regulations in protecting players from potential harm. Since the Dutch online gambling market launched in October 2021, the findings suggest that additional efforts may be needed to strengthen consumer protections and ensure safer gambling practices, as the current framework may not be adequately addressing player safety and harm prevention.
