Ecuador seeks public opinion on lifting decade-old gambling ban

As part of a public consultation, the President of Ecuador has provided the Constitutional Court with 11 survey questions, some of which will center on the nation's gaming and betting sector.

The Constitutional Court will have 20 days to distribute notices regarding the questions—the final one of which will center on regulating the nation's gaming industry—that the leader has sent.

Since 2011, it has been illegal for physical casinos and bingo halls to operate in Ecuador. There is a gray area in the industry, though, because online gaming is not expressly prohibited.
