While counting cards helps amass an advantage at casino blackjack, some players think it also impacts split decisions. I believe this is only marginally true.
Splitting low value, high variance hands likely increases variance, outweighing small expected gains from counts. Major decisions focus more on basic strategy and true/false counts. Minor implications arise from effective/count counts, but mathematical optimal splits usually change little. Therefore, even if somewhat related, I consider card counting and splitting decisions mostly independent.
