European Safer Gambling Week (ESGW) will soon be upon us and to mark this occasion, several organisations have planned events to discuss responsible gambling and gambling harm.
To help people navigate ESGW 2023, the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has released an agenda.

Kicking things off is a webinar hosted by EGBA entitled, ‘Minimising gambling-related harm: Contributing to a better understanding of problem gambling in Europe.’ This is scheduled to begin at 11am CEST on 17 October and is expected to last for one hour.
Three other events are also set to take place on Monday, including one hosted by Sweden’s Trade Association for Online Gambling (BOS) and another by Betsson.

As you may expect, the BOS seminar will focus on safer gambling in Sweden, but Betsson will host a webinar centred around an account from a former compulsive gambler.
Other events planned for ESGW 2023 include an invitation-only conference on Wednesday 19 October organised by Entain. This will revolve around the company’s Entain Sustain programme.

Also on Wednesday, the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) will debut a social media campaign entitled, ‘Betting integrity and consumer protection.’
Currently, Monday has more events planned than any other during ESGW; two events are scheduled for Tuesday, three for Wednesday and Thursday and only one for Friday.

Thank you for sharing the agenda for the upcoming European Safer Gambling Week (ESGW) 2023. It's great to see that several organizations have planned events to discuss responsible gambling and gambling harm during this important week. Let's take a closer look at the events outlined in the agenda:

1. EGBA Webinar - "Minimising gambling-related harm: Contributing to a better understanding of problem gambling in Europe":
Hosted by the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA), this webinar is set to begin at 11am CEST on 17 October and is expected to last for one hour. It will focus on understanding and addressing problem gambling in Europe, with the aim of reducing gambling-related harm.

2. Seminar hosted by Sweden's Trade Association for Online Gambling (BOS):
This seminar will delve into the topic of safer gambling in Sweden. The specific details and time of this event were not mentioned, but it's great to see a focus on responsible gambling practices in a specific country.

3. Webinar hosted by Betsson:
Betsson will be hosting a webinar centered around an account from a former compulsive gambler. Listening to the personal experience of someone who has struggled with gambling addiction can provide valuable insights into the challenges individuals face and the importance of responsible gambling measures.

4. Entain Invitation-only Conference:
On Wednesday, 19 October, Entain will hold an invitation-only conference focused on their Entain Sustain program. Entain is known for its commitment to responsible gambling practices, and this conference is likely to feature discussions on their initiatives and strategies in promoting safer gambling.

5. Social media campaign by the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA):
The IBIA will launch a social media campaign titled "Betting integrity and consumer protection". Social media campaigns are effective in reaching a wide audience and raising awareness about responsible gambling and the importance of maintaining integrity in the industry.

It's noteworthy that Monday has the most planned events, indicating a strong start to the European Safer Gambling Week. However, this doesn't diminish the significance of the later days, with multiple events still scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and a final event on Friday.

These events demonstrate the commitment of various organizations to promoting responsible gambling and addressing gambling-related harm. By hosting webinars, seminars, conferences, and social media campaigns, they aim to educate, engage, and raise awareness among industry stakeholders, the public, and individuals who may be at risk of gambling-related harm.

Overall, the agenda for the European Safer Gambling Week 2023 looks promising, and it is encouraging to see these concerted efforts within the industry to prioritize responsible gambling.
