Eight casinos charged by Victoria gambling commission for underage gambling

Tabcorp and eight other establishments have been fined by the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission for permitting children to gamble there.

There are 54 allegations against Tabcorp for violating the Gambling Regulation Act of 2003, 27 of them are related to letting minors gambling and not keeping an eye on electronic betting terminals.

The inquiry conducted by the VGCCC found that these 27 infractions took place between September 8 and November 1, 2022.

The owners of the facility are accused of letting a youngster enter a space with gaming machines, letting a minor wager, and neglecting to keep an eye on the electronic betting machines.

Large fines will certainly get the attention of operators to be more diligent in future. However, underage gambling incidents will likely continue if the root causes aren't addressed. Parents should try and educate their children on gambling.

Regulatory authorities have demonstrated their dedication to promoting responsible gambling practices and enforcing rigorous age verification measures through this enforcement action. This serves as a clear indication of their commitment in this area.

The news of eight casinos facing charges from the Victoria gambling commission due to underage gambling is disconcerting. The priority in the gambling industry should always be the safety and well-being of all players, especially minors.
