England cricketer handed sixteen year sentence for betting offences

A 16-month ban for historical betting violations has dealt a blow to an England international cricketer's hopes of making his Test debut this summer.

The Durham fast bowler, who has represented England in both one-day and Twenty20 formats, will not be available again until August 29, even though two years of the ban for placing 303 bets on cricket matches between 2017 and 2019 was suspended for 13 months.
