Ever lost a friend because of poker ?

A few years back, I lost near $10,000 to a former friend on one terrible beat. His flush drew to my two pair on the river, and in that moment I saw a gleam of delight in his eyes. Like he was happy to take my money, not just win the hand fair. That’s when I knew the friendship wasn’t the same. The money and competition had come between us.

So yes, losing friends over poker is certainly possible. The games that draw people together can also drive them apart when money, jealousy or ego enter the picture. The only way to avoid it is to keep the right perspective - real friends won't be lost over a hand or a pot. Poker's meant to be enjoyed, win or lose, with folks you trust.
