Detained in Lithuania is a former partner and fund manager of the European private equity firm BaltCap, who is accused of embezzling and wasting $29 million.
Companies owned by BaltCap filed lawsuits against the criminal and two casino operators in late January: Casino Olympic Group Baltija, which operates multiple land-based casinos in the Baltics, and OB Holdings 1, which is the owner of the Olybet online casino brand.
According to the lawsuit, the perpetrator allegedly transferred $17.94 million into his accounts with the two operators, who continue to possess undisclosed portions of the funds. It aims to recoup the millions that went missing along with 6% interest.
