Ex-poker player admits to fatally murdering American

A former poker player on the island of Aruba has entered a guilty plea for the 2005 murder of an American. In addition, he acknowledged trying to get $250,000 from the mother of the victim.

The Dutch suspect was extradited to the United States from Peru in May to face federal allegations of wire fraud and extortion. In another South American nation, he is currently serving a 28-year term for the death of another woman.

The plea agreement included a confession that guaranteed the criminal a 20-year prison term for the accusations of extortion. That will take effect simultaneously, as opposed to consecutively, with his sentence in Peru.
