FIDE has stopped transgender women from playing in women's chess tournaments for now

FIDE has stopped transgender women from playing in women's chess tournaments for now. The chess group made this rule on August 18th after meeting in Riga, Latvia.
Transgender women cannot play in the World Chess Championship, Olympiad, or World Cup - these are big FIDE tournaments. But they can still play in open tournaments for all players.
FIDE said this rule is to make games fair and protect women's chess. They will keep studying this and make a final rule later. Some players agree with this to protect female players. But others think it's unfair to transgender women.
It's hard to know the right answer on if transgender people can play in sports with their gender. FIDE's rule will affect women's chess. We'll see what they finally decide and how people feel about their choice.
