According to a recent survey, there has been a worrying rise in the prevalence of problem gambling in Finland, even though overall gambling participation has decreased. The Institute for Health and Welfare found that 4.2 percent of respondents admitted to having a problem with gambling or to being at risk. This corresponds to about 150.000 people in the country.
This figure represents a rise from the 3% found in previous surveys. The institute claims that the increase is noteworthy.
