Florida fiscal policy committee advances bill to crack down on illegal gambling

The bill, which aims to change Florida's stance on illegal gambling, was advanced by the Senate Committee on Fiscal Policy on Thursday.

The proposed legislation would prohibit the promotion of illicit gambling enterprises and impose sanctions on the trafficking of slot machines, with the severity of the offense rising with the quantity of machines involved. The bill emphasizes its comprehensive approach to deterrence by introducing felony charges for those who knowingly transport others to engage in illegal gambling.
