Florida gambling case verdict could spell doom for California gaming sector

The order from Florida allowing the Seminole Tribe to run online sports wagering through computer servers situated on tribal land was appealed, but the US Supreme Court declined to hear the case.

In addition to allowing Hard Rock International, the Seminole Tribe's gaming subsidiary, to continue having exclusive access to the third-largest state's online sports betting market through 2051, the Supreme Court's decision on that appeal may serve as a model for other states where gaming is controlled by tribes but online sports betting is prohibited. California is a member of this group.
