Florida tribal casino sports betting appeal rejected by Supreme Court

A years-long attempt to revoke a sports-betting agreement between the governor and the Seminole Tribe of Florida was unsuccessful when the U.S. Supreme Court denied a petition from Florida casinos.

The 2021 deal gives the tribe a monopoly over sports betting in the state; the governor estimated that the 30-year agreement could bring in $6 billion for Florida by 2030. Casino operators requested that the Interior Department's approval of the deal be blocked by the high court.

The opponents of the deal, who lost a related state constitutional challenge in the Florida Supreme Court this spring, are out of options as a result of the decision.
