Flutter Entertainment CEO considers bid for main Italian lottery

The chief executive officer of Flutter Entertainment has informed the media that the gambling behemoth is thinking about submitting a bid for Italy's national lottery license. In 2022, the company acquired Sisal, the company that operates the competitor SuperEnalotto.

The CEO claimed that by using its lottery license to cross-sell by including scannable links on the back of lottery tickets, Flutter was getting around Italy's law prohibiting the promotion of online gambling.

It’s interesting to see Flutter Entertainment considering a bid for Italy's national lottery license, especially after acquiring Sisal and its involvement with SuperEnalotto. The strategy to potentially use scannable links on lottery tickets as a way to bypass Italy's online gambling restrictions shows how companies are finding creative ways to adapt to regulatory challenges. It will be interesting to see how this move plays out and if it leads to more cross-selling opportunities in Italy's gambling market. This could really shake things up!
