Former executive of Mississippi Lottery arrested for embezzlement

After entering a guilty plea to embezzlement for providing herself with unapproved pay raises, the former vice president of the Mississippi Lottery Corporation was given a five-year house arrest sentence.

The private company running the lottery had its human resources department headed by the offender.

While the lottery corporation was refining lottery operations, staff members found her misusing money and reported it to the auditor's office, according to the press release. The company has implemented extra safeguards to stop embezzlement since then.
