Fourth Conservative official investigated over election betting scandal

According to British media on Sunday, the chief data officer of the Conservative Party in Britain has taken a leave of absence due to mounting claims that members of the ruling party have bet on date of the July 4 national election before it was made public through the use of insider information.

As a result of his purported bet on the election's timing, he is the fourth Conservative official under investigation by the UK Gambling Commission.

Several thousand pounds could have been won on dozens of bets.
