Foxtel in trouble over illegal gambling company adverts during Test cricket match

The federal communications watchdog is investigating whether Foxtel violated gambling advertising laws when it aired advertisements for two unlicensed offshore betting companies during the broadcast of Australia vs. New Zealand's test cricket match in Wellington last week.

The issue was a virtual Parimatch billboard that was displayed on the field. When it was discovered that the Cyprus-based online casino and bookmaker was providing Australians with illegal unlicensed gambling in 2022, the Australian Communications and Media Authority blocked it.

These type of companies that are not registered and licence in a proper manner always try to take such options where they can get some popularity and they take help of popular services in the gambling industry but the company that was actually promoting it took the risk and if the charges are proved against them they might have to face a strong fine against them indeed for the breach of the rules actually

It will not be easy to enforce such laws especially when the owners of gambling companies are the moneybags who are willing to spend much more to get advertised and promoted. The advertising companies will always find it hard to refuse such tantalizing offers. With money, protocols can be broken.
