France looks to legalize online casinos by 2025

Next year, the French government plans to legalize online casinos.

While online betting is currently permitted in France, online casino games are not. It is currently the only EU member state that forbids online casinos, along with Cyprus.

This amendment is included in France's 2025 draft budget, and the government probably hopes that legalizing online casino games will boost the nation's finances by generating tax income. It is suggested that the tax rate on online casino games be set at 55.6% of their total revenue.
