French gambling authorities warns parents against gifting children lottery scratch cards during festivities

According to a recent survey conducted on behalf of the French National Gaming Authority, 20% of French people want to give scratch cards to their children as Christmas draws near. The authority has underlined the possible risks of gambling for children and advised parents not to trivialise the practice, even if scratch cards are frequently thought of as harmless. There are differing opinions about giving scratch cards to children, according to the survey. A quarter of respondents acknowledged that they have given such gifts to children in the past, mainly as parents giving gifts to their own children, despite the fact that over half of them thought it unthinkable. In particular, 14% of parents intend to give their kids scratch cards this year.
