French senators vote for tax hikes on gambling

Senators from France have supported the government's "comportmental tax raises" that target gambling, tobacco, and soft drinks.

All retail sports bets will now be taxed at 10% instead of 7%, online bets at 15% instead of 10.5%, and lottery gross gambling revenue at 10% after MPs rejected the gambling tax hikes yesterday.

French senators have approved government measures to increase behavioral taxes on gambling, tobacco, and soft drinks. Retail sports betting taxes will rise from 7% to 10%, online betting from 10.5% to 15%, and lottery gross revenue will face a 10% tax. This follows a rejection of the gambling tax hikes by members of parliament, signaling continued debate over fiscal policies targeting these industries.
