GambleAware highlights higher risk of gambling harm in LGBTQ+ community

GambleAware has indicated that specific individuals within the LGBTQ+ community may face an elevated risk of experiencing harm from gambling.

The recently published scoping study aims to enhance comprehension of the firsthand encounters of gambling-related harm within the LGBTQ+ community in Great Britain.

Conducted by researchers from the University of Brighton, the study involved an examination of articles spanning from 2000 to 2023. The focus was on elucidating the detrimental impacts of gambling on the LGBTQ+ population, exploring its repercussions on relationships, employment, finances, and mental well-being.

Additionally, the study delved into the evidence illustrating the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals in seeking assistance for the adverse effects of gambling.
