GambleAware report shows UK has most lenient gambling restrictions

According to a report commissioned by the charity GambleAware, Britain has the most laxest laws governing gambling advertisements "despite having more research on the negative effects of gambling marketing than several other European countries combined."

In addition to mandatory health warnings and stricter regulations on online marketing, the group is advocating for a pre-watershed ban on broadcast advertisements and a "blanket ban across sports."

A report commissioned by GambleAware highlights that Britain has some of the most lenient laws governing gambling advertisements, despite having extensive research on the harmful effects of such marketing. The charity is calling for stronger measures to protect vulnerable populations, including a pre-watershed ban on broadcast advertisements, stricter regulations for online marketing, and a blanket ban on gambling sponsorships in sports. These recommendations aim to reduce exposure to gambling advertisements, especially among young and at-risk individuals, aligning Britain with stricter advertising standards seen in other European countries.
