Gambling in Nigeria

The state of gambling in Nigeria is a complex beast .there is no doubt that in any nation ,the gambling industry does provide significant benefits in the form of jobs, revenue to healthcare and education and of course general entertainment for the population.
For many years ,Nigeria offline sport betting and gambling industry saw significant year-to-year growth with its online gambling counterpart gaining strength in the last decades or with an increase in the countrys population and widespread access to the Internet.in 2018,it was reported that Nigeria was the second largest online betting market in African with gross gaming revenue of $58 million for that year.

The downsides can be just as significant without proper regulations.federal and state regulatory agencies have never been on the same page about current laws, licensing or legal procedure for dealing with gambling entities.

Religion and Conservative faiths do not allow gambling to be progressive in Nigeria. Initially gambling was rampart among low class people in the society. Later, when football betting became popular, then other forms of betting follows.

I feel the religious parts don't even care about the gambling sector. They only say bad things about the business but they themself benefit from the gamblers directly or indirectly.
What I think is the main problem here is the sense of seeing gambling as a profession or a main source of income. I feel that is what is the bone of contention in Nigeria.

No. Most religious bodies preach against the gambling among their members. They said gambling is antidictrine to their faith and as a result they should desist from it. Though there are some of their members that are secretly engaging in it.

Yeah. That's true. Most religious people even stake games. The fact that you don't see them going to bet shops doesn't mean that they don't play it online. I caught one pastor when I handled his phone. I guess he has been into gambling for a long time. I didn't judge him I saw a man who was in need of money, who am I to judge someone trying to make money.

I think as a gambler ,there are obviously some things you should place into consideration , you should invest what you can afford to lose , there are times many have made countless loss off gambling and if they don't invest what they can afford to lose that loss keeps increasing
