The state senator from Georgia says he intends to put a gambling measure on the state ballot for the following year as soon as the legislature meets in January. He intends to introduce mobile sportsbooks, a pari-mutuel racetrack, and three casino resorts to the state.
Voters would be asked to approve the new games by amending the Georgia constitution under his proposed legislation. He pointed out that Georgia loses out on tourism and economic development opportunities because casinos and sports betting are legal in many of its neighboring states.
