Ghanaian presidential candidate promises to increase betting tax

In the run-up to the December 7, 2024, elections, Percival Kofi Akpaloo, a presidential candidate, has advocated for raising the betting tax.

According to what he said in an interview, raising the betting tax would deter young people from betting. He said that gambling is bad and that young people in Ghana shouldn't rely heavily on it for their financial situation.

In August 2023, a 10% betting tax on all winnings was instituted by the current administration.

Well he is right according to the given situation also he is running for election so making such announcements will allow him to make his case strong for the ultimate hold of the country so such things are done purposefully here

I think he meant well for his country and youths but it may not be easy task. The betting companies are been owned by top politicians and big business moneybags. They may oppose him severely especially now he is still contesting. Sometimes, we have to learn how to close our mouth and work silently to the top.

Every person has the right to voice out his opinion and that is one of the thing that is called freedom of speech using it one can gain their verdict and honest thinking on what they feel aboutr something actually
