Work on the $100 million Grand Island Casino Resort at Fonner Park in Nebraska is set to begin next month, according to project officials.
Fonner Park qualified to apply for a state casino license after Nebraskans approved a statewide ballot question enabling slot machines, table games, and sports betting at the state's licensed racetracks in the November 2020 election.
The Grand Island Casino Resort at Fonner Park will be developed adjacent to the racetrack and will include the grandstand. Elite authorities recently announced that building will begin in mid to late October, with an opening date in 2024 to be established as the project advances.
